Design of a Woman

The design of a woman
Genesis 2:18
Helper suitable
Created inferior?
Design of a Wife

Here’s a quick word about the design of a woman.  This should be interesting!  If you are a woman, I trust you need no further motivation to read this!  And if you are a man, please read and understand, especially if you have a special woman in your life.

Our focus will be Genesis 2:18 where God says, “It is not good for the man to be alone.  I will make a helper suitable for him.”

Ask a woman what it means to be a helper, and she is a not sure although she is bothered by it.  Ask a man what it means to be a helper, and he will probably say that it means that she is the man’s assistant.  After all, that’s the common understanding today of the word “helper.”

And throughout history, the man did look at her this way and treated her as someone in a lesser role and status.  And the women, just as much, thought of her role in a lesser capacity and status.

Ok, let’s not ask the man nor the woman what it means.  Instead, let’s take a closer look at the word “helper” to see how it is used in the Bible, because the way the Bible uses the word will give us the true meaning of the word.  And tracking its use, we find that it is used of God Himself.  That God himself is a helper to us in a unique way that makes our lives better.

In fact, a familiar occurrence of this word is found in Psalm 121:1-2 where David looks to God and says, “I lift up my eyes to the hills— where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD.

So, God is the helper to David in a way that no one else can.  The truth is that God has this uniquely divine ability to enter a person’s life and give strength, support, encouragement, wisdom, inspiration, and challenge.  And this being true, no one would say that God is less than us because he is a helper.  Quite the contrary!  The fact that He is a helper actually exalts him to a unique position in our lives.

And you should know that this word “helper” in Psalm 121 is the same word “helper” back in Genesis 2:18.  Now, if it’s the same word, then it has the same meaning!  So, when God created the woman to be a helper, He created her to be reflection of Himself as a helper.  That is, she would enter a man’s life and give him strength, support, encouragement, wisdom, inspiration, and challenge.  And so, she is not in any way a lesser person but is actually a special person created in the image of God and to be like Him.

Now, women are not perfect, but women are called to reflect God in this way.  Now, this does not mean that she has no life but just helping the man.  But it does mean that she is to bring out the best in her man.

So, the question of the day for the woman is:  is your man better off because he is with you?  And for the single woman, here is a question:  are the people in your life better off because of their relationship with you?  Is your boyfriend better off because he is with you?

That’s it for now

Thank you, that really sets it clear. That is seriously reaching high. I pray he can say that of me. I strive to be a Godly wife, no matter what. But it sometimes seems I am the wife that tears her house down. So glad for the Holy Spirit, always being near to lead and guide.

Yes, it is a very high standard. All of God’s standards are high and unattainable without His help. Press on with the help of His Spirit and many blessings to you.

Yes, my man is better off because I’m in his life. And I’m better off with him in my life.

Beautiful description of comparing Gen 2:18 God as helper to woman as helper. God made us from Adam’s rib. This is close to Adam’s heart. God sees us as near the Heart of the matter. Women nurture by Grace, after God’s own Heart, and designed women to Love fervently. Women who are loved and nurtured, love and nurture others well.
